it having the blue,voilet laser(405nm) makes the shorter wave length,instead of dvd having red laser(650nm).this shortwave length tighten the data and makes that to occupy less space.blueray having more capacity of 25GB on single layer and 50GB on dual layer disc.this capacity combined with the advanced video and audio codec will make superb HD experience.
blu-ray having the advantage than the HD DVD is that it supports playstation3 format also.
